SSA+D was founded in 2005 by Saharat Surattanont. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture at Washington University in St. Louis. In 1997, he received a Masters of Architecture from Harvard University's Graduate School of Design.

Prior to SSA+D, Saharat has worked for a variety of firms in St. Louis, Boston, and New York. His work experience ranges in scale from residential projects in Manhattan to an office park in Malaysia. Additional work includes hospitals, performances spaces, and academic institutions. For the past several years, Saharat has focused on apartment renovations, additions, and new homes. He is a licensed architect practicing in New York City.
